Job Summary:
Nurse Practitioners are members of a supportive multi-disciplinary team providing full-scale healthcare to the inmate population. Correctional Medicine provides the opportunity to practice in internal and emergency medicine, detoxification, obstetrics and more.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and treat patient sick-call requests, prescribing medications according to state guidelines and CPS formulary. Perform patient assessments, including histories, physical examinations, and ordering appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Monitor, interpret, and follow up on abnormal exam findings and test results, documenting care and coordinating with supervising physicians. Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice (e.g., venipuncture, EKGs, suturing, wound care, splinting, Pap smears, biopsies, incision and drainage). Initiate emergency medical management for acute conditions such as cardiac arrest, injuries, burns, and hemorrhage. Document all patient encounters accurately and maintain timely medical records. Provide patient education, preventive health guidance, and crisis intervention support. Collaborate with medical leadership on patient care, quality improvement initiatives, and facility compliance while adhering to security protocols. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Schedule:
40 hours/week Monday-Friday, 3pm-11pm shift
