Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring smooth clinic operations through exceptional administrative support. Your expertise in administration, familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and strong communication skills will contribute to delivering outstanding patient service and efficient clinic management. Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, managing front desk operations with professionalism and efficiency Schedule patient appointments using medical office management software Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks to facilitate accurate billing and claims processing Collect payments and perform medical collections to ensure timely revenue cycle management Maintain accurate and organized medical records, including documentation review and data entry in EMR systems Assist with medical billing, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare claims to support proper reimbursement processes Handle phone inquiries with excellent phone etiquette, multi-line phone system management, and effective communication skills Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, managing patient intake forms, and coordinating appointment follow-ups Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all administrative activities Perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, typing (including 10 key), and maintaining office supplies Requirements Experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, preferably within clinics or dental offices. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems Familiarity with medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9/10
coding standards for accurate documentation and billing Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security Ability to perform insurance verification, billing procedures, and collection processes effectively Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively Clinic or hospital experience is preferred: Willing to train Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and a friendly demeanor Join our team today to make a positive impact on patient care while advancing your career in a supportive healthcare environment.
