Job Description

Medical-Surgical Nursing Faculty Mississippi College School of Nursing invites applications for Medical-Surgical Nursing Faculty. This position plays a vital role in preparing skilled, compassionate nurses by facilitating student learning in clinical settings and supporting their development of professional nursing competencies. A detailed job description is attached.
Primary Responsibilities:
Organizes and presents subject matter efficiently and effectively Embraces and promotes a decidedly Christian worldview Stimulates students to think creatively and to participate in class Stimulates and assists students' extra-curricular reading and research Counsels students concerning academic matters Helps students find and prepare for their vocations Encourages qualified students to pursue graduate study Shows respect for individual personalities Maintains currency within the discipline Be active in professional organizations Observes professional ethics in all relationships Defends freedom of responsible expression Does scholarly, creative or performance work in academic, creative or performance area and write, create or perform professionally Maintains membership and attendance in a church and assume responsibility in the denomination Represents the College in churches when needed Encourages student participation in church and denominational activities Participates in community activities and organizations
Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree in nursing which includes clinical preparation in a nursing specialty and preparation for the teaching role for the purposes of presenting meaningful, effective and engaging instruction in all aspects of the discipline Excellent organizational and writing skills Research proficiency Understanding of higher education assessment Demonstrated scholarship in nursing and ongoing involvement in nursing practice. Two years of practice experience in the area of instruction Maintains current unencumbered registered nurse (RN) licensure for professional practice with the Mississippi State Board of Nursing.
