SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Medication Technician is responsible for providing routine daily care to residents of The Laurels, including the administration of medications to residents by facility policy and procedure. The Medication Technician will act as a supervisor when the ED, DON, and LPN are not present in the facility. They will ensure the CNAs are properly administering services and there is adequate CNA coverage per shift. They assist residents with personal hygiene as well as participate in the daily care of the residents. The Med Tech will assist in maintaining a clean and odor-free building. JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 18 years of age Must have an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of VA Certified in a Medication Management approved by the Board of Nursing. High school diploma or equivalent A valid Virginia Driver's License Experience in caring for the geriatric population Ability to communicate in English effectively both orally and in writing Ability to make independent decisions Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures Knowledge of regulations/guidelines governing nursing in an assisted living facility Must be focused and flexible in meeting work demands due to frequent interruptions.
