Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility while delivering excellent service to all members, guests, program participants, and staff. Member Services Representatives respond to member and guest needs, promote and sell memberships and programs, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the lobby area. Sunday 9:30am-2pm and various weekday shifts are available that include closing the facility. Open positions start in June.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention. Welcomes and scans in each member in a pleasant and friendly manner (i.e., greet, smile & make eye contact). Answers phones in a professional manner, and accurately transfers calls or take messages as needed. Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships. Dispenses accurate membership, program and general YMCA information Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA. Distributes equipment, key cards, keys, and merchandise in accordance with the Ys procedures. Uses operating systems for membership sales and program registrations. Performs established cash accounting procedures when reconciling till and shift close outs. Be able to actively listen to questions, concerns and feelings of members and staff. Be able to deal with members and staff in a honest, respectful and positive manner. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues. Acts as a member of the team during emergency situations. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to multi-task, some computer and cash-handling experience preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
