Job Description

WAY Niles Lab Mentor — Full-Time About WAY Niles WAY Niles is a dynamic blended learning community for high school-aged youth (researchers) seeking innovative, effective educational options. The primary aim of WAY Niles is to engage teenagers in learning, foster the desire and ability to become lifelong learners, help them achieve their high school diploma, and ultimately support them in becoming contributors to society. Job Description This role will act as the Lab Mentor for the WAY Niles program. Lab Mentor duties include facilitating communities and creating learning opportunities for students/researchers. The Lab Mentor is responsible for ensuring that the local project conforms, in every aspect, to the WAY Program model as researched and designed.

College experience Technology support experience Educational support background preferred
Essential Skills Required:
Computer literacy Good organizational and administrative skills Flexibility Strong interpersonal skills An aptitude for problem-solving Ability to prioritize workload Ability to work under pressure Ability to explain complicated technical issues in simple terms Good telephone manner Ability to communicate with teenagers and be comfortable in their presence Team player with a "can-do" attitude Educational experience (not necessarily in a school setting)
Key Tasks:
Provide easily accessible topics of interest for students to explore, aligned with state content expectations Produce work using a variety of media, both proactively and reactively to student interests Work collaboratively and in teams where appropriate Comply with all directives pertaining to job performance and duties Support and share expertise with other Mentors and Experts/Teachers to facilitate researcher learning Assist students in the lab Assist the core team with daily student attendance check-in/check-out Answer telephone calls when needed Multitask and support other team members as needs arise Support the core team with home visits when necessary Provide information as required Keep project team databases up to date Meet deadlines within established project guidelines Take part in induction days, providing training and support to researchers and mentors Perform other duties as required Apply Now
