Hardscape Apprentice / Outdoor Construction Apprentice Outdoor Impressions - Jackson, Michigan Please read this entire description carefully before applying. Everything about the position, expectations, and hiring process is explained below. We are looking for people who pay attention to details and follow instructions. Outdoor Impressions is a design-build hardscape company based in Jackson, Michigan. We build high-end outdoor living spaces including patios, retaining walls, steps, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, and pools. We focus on quality work, professional systems, and building projects that last decades. We are not looking for "laborers." We are looking for someone who wants to learn a skilled trade, develop real abilities, and take pride in building high-quality projects. If you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, learning tools and equipment, and improving your skills each season, this could be a great opportunity. What You'll Be Doing You will work with a small crew building outdoor living spaces from start to finish. Every project is different and you'll learn skills that most people in the industry never take the time to master. You'll gain experience with things like: Hardscape installation (patios, retaining walls, steps) Site preparation and excavation Layout and grade work Laser levels and layout tools Operating compact equipment Jobsite organization and efficiency Reading plans and job drawings Proper construction methods that ensure projects last decades This position is meant for someone who wants to learn the trade and grow, not just show up and push a wheelbarrow. Shows up on time Takes pride in their work Pays attention to details Wants to learn and improve Works well with a team Is reliable and responsible Is mechanically inclined and comfortable learning tools and equipment Construction or landscaping experience is helpful, but attitude and work ethic matter more than experience. We maintain a professional jobsite environment.

Work Schedule This is primarily seasonal outdoor construction.
Typical schedule:
Spring through late fall Usually finished between Thanksgiving and Christmas Work typically starts again in March or April depending on weather There may occasionally be: longer days weekend work some out-of-town projects During winter months many employees collect unemployment and return in the spring.
Pay Starting pay:
$17 - $20 per hour Pay is based on experience, work ethic, and how quickly you develop skills. Employees who take initiative, learn quickly, and show leadership ability can advance quickly. Hiring Process We take hiring seriously because the right team makes all the difference.
Our process looks like this:
Initial phone conversation (about 15-20 minutes) If that goes well, we schedule a one-day hands-on working interview This gives both of us a chance to see if it's the right fit The working interview allows you to see what the work is actually like and allows us to see how you approach the job.
