GENERAL PURPOSE

Attendants at the South Haven Ice Rink are responsible for the smooth and safe operations of the ice rink facility. Staff will provide friendly customer service, answer general questions, and provide information as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner. Answer phones. Use point-of-sales system to process admission fees and skate rentals. Provide information about ice rink activities, schedules, and programs. Ensure a positive and safe experience for all skaters, addressing any concerns or issues promptly. Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment, such as skate rentals, safety barriers, etc. Assist with other daily opening and closing tasks. Monitor ice conditions and report any issues to the ice rink supervisor Enforce safety rules and regulations to maintain in a secure environment for skaters. Inspect and maintain rental skates to ensure they are in good condition. Report any equipment malfunction or damage to the ice rink to supervisor. Conduct regular inspections of the facilities, including public restrooms, for cleanliness and safety. Assist with routine cleaning tasks, including but limited to, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED preferred. If minor, must provide us with a work permit from your school. Basic knowledge of ice skating and familiarity with ice rink operations is a plus. Necessary Knowledge ,

Skills and Abilities:

Previous customer service experience is preferred. Must have the ability to always display a friendly and professional demeanor. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment. Must have reliable transportation available to get to/from work. Must be dependable, adaptable/flexible, and people orientated. Must be able to address unforeseen circumstances that arise.

Computer, point-of-sales system, skate sharpener (adults only), ice resurfacing machine (adults only), telephone.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to communicate with coworkers and customers. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell. Must be able to lift, push and carry up to 40 pounds. Must be able to stand or be physically active for extended periods of time. Must be able to tolerate prolonged exposure to cold temperatures. Must have physical strength and agility to lift and carry equipment and perform manual tasks, both on and off the ice.
