POSITION OVERVIEW

Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Art Teacher to join its middle school team. The Middle School Art Teacher delivers engaging, standards-based visual arts instruction that fosters creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based visual arts instruction for middle school learners Teach a variety of artistic media and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art Integrate art history, cultural perspectives, and contemporary practices into lessons Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles Create and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters belonging Establish clear expectations and effectively manage student behavior Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback to support growth and achievement Encourage creativity, problem-solving, and student voice through meaningful art experiences Manage art supplies, materials, and equipment responsibly Display and celebrate student artwork within the school and community Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiatives Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff Participate in professional development and ongoing learning Support school culture and contribute to a positive learning environment aligned with district values

QUALFICATIONS

Valid Iowa teaching license Endorsement 113 - K-8 Art Endorsement 114 - 5-12 Art
