Middle School Health and Life Skills Teacher Bethlehem Lutheran School - 4.6 Fairborn, OH Job Details Part-time $25 an hour 8 hours ago Qualifications School experience Teaching Certification Working with children Lesson planning Teaching Full Job Description Middle School Health & Life Skills Teacher Position Summary The Middle School Health & Life Skills Teacher provides Christ‑centered instruction in health, human development, life skills, and state‑mandated wellness topics for students in Grades 6-8. This teacher integrates a strong Christian worldview into all content areas, ensuring that students receive accurate, age‑appropriate instruction that aligns with both Ohio learning standards and the biblical understanding of the human body, sexuality, vocation, and Christian living. Instruction occurs one day per week for a total of 1.5 hours with planning and prep time of 1.5 hours. Bethlehem Lutheran School Mission Statement Bethlehem Lutheran believes that children are a precious gift from God, and as such, we in partnership with parents, work together to foster Christ-like qualities in all we pursue: Spiritual growth, academic excellence, physical, emotional, and social development. General Responsibilities Teach Health and Life Skills to Grade 6 and to a combined Grades 7/8 class, following the school's established curriculum rotation. Ensure all required Ohio health education mandates are met, including instruction in human growth and development, substance abuse prevention, and mental wellness. Prepare lessons that are developmentally appropriate, biblically grounded, and aligned with Ohio standards. Create a safe, respectful, and age‑appropriate environment for discussing sensitive topics. Communicate with parents and the principal regarding curriculum content, especially in units involving puberty, sexuality, and mental health. Maintain accurate attendance and simple records of instructional topics covered for compliance purposes. Collaborate with the principal to ensure all materials used align with LCMS theology and school policy. Model Christian character, professionalism, and compassion in all interactions with students, families, and staff. Qualifications A committed Christian who can support and uphold the doctrine and practice of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Demonstrated ability to teach sensitive topics with clarity, compassion, and biblical fidelity Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with middle school students. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive conversations appropriately Experience working with youth Valid Ohio teaching license
