Middle School Science Teacher at St. Paul's School for Boys Apr 15 2026 The St. Paul's Schools is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time middle school science teacher at St. Paul's School for Boys for the 2026-2027 school year. Position Description We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and student-centered Middle School Science Teacher to join our middle school. This educator will inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of science in boys in grades 5 through 8, with a primary focus on leading an engaging and rigorous 5th and 6th grade science program. The ideal candidate brings energy, humor, structure, and innovation to the classroom, and thrives in an environment where relationships, hands-on learning, and intellectual challenge are equally valued. This is a 10-month position. Job Responsibilities Design and deliver an interactive, inquiry-based science curriculum for grades 5-8, with emphasis on an advanced 5th and 6th grade program. Create a classroom culture that is structured yet fun, where boys are encouraged to take risks, ask questions, and explore scientific concepts through experimentation. Lead and create advanced STEM electives Incorporate hands-on labs, design challenges, simulations, and project-based learning experiences that promote collaboration and problem-solving. Differentiate instruction to meet a range of learning styles and abilities while maintaining high expectations. Use real-world applications and cross-disciplinary connections to make science relevant and exciting. Integrate technology meaningfully into instruction, including data collection tools, modeling software, and digital collaboration platforms. Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including projects, presentations, lab work, and traditional assessments. Serve as an advisor/mentor to a small group of students, supporting their academic and personal growth. Collaborate with faculty to design interdisciplinary experiences and contribute to school-wide initiatives. Communicate effectively with parents about student progress and classroom activities. Other duties as assigned Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Science, STEM Education, or a related field (Master's preferred). Experience teaching middle school science, ideally including 5th or 6th grade. Strong content knowledge in life sciences and/or STEM disciplines. Demonstrated ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Experience with or interest in STEM fields such as robotics, coding, engineering, or maker education. Energetic, curious, and enthusiastic about science Excellent classroom management skills balanced with warmth and humor. Passionate about mentoring middle school boys during a formative time Organized and structured, while still flexible and fun Strong communication and collaboration skills. In addition to teaching, full-time faculty members serve as student advisors and contribute in other significant ways to the work of the community. We are especially interested in candidates with coaching experience and/or those who can demonstrate initiative and serve as coaches in a variety of significant ways outside of the classroom. Other supervisory responsibilities and duties are shared among faculty members. The St. Paul's Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. For this opportunity, our salary range is $45,800 to $70,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.
