Aug 17, 2026 Job Description IKM-Manning is seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing support and education to students with special needs. Your expertise and guidance will help these students reach their full potential and achieve academic success. IKM-Manning is looking for a STRAT 2 Special Education Teacher or a STRAT 1 Special Education Teacher that is willing to get a conditional license for a STRAT 2.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Provide direct instruction in various subjects, including literacy, math, and science
  • Utilize behavior management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure the success of each student
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Incorporate technology and other resources to enhance learning experiences
  • Provide support during transition periods, such as from preschool to elementary school or from high school to post-secondary education or employment
  • Implement early intervention strategies for students who require additional support
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to address specific student needs
Skills:
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Experience working with students with special needs, including those with behavioral challenges or learning disabilities
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques to create a positive classroom environment
  • Experience in mentoring or providing guidance to students
  • Familiarity with preschool or early childhood education principles is a plus
  • Understanding of special education laws and regulations
