Job Description
A local company is seeking a Millwright to join our team who will be responsible for operation and maintenance activities of our automated hydroelectric generating station located in Essex County, VT (near Caledonia County, VT, Grafton County, NH, and Coos County, NH). Duties include inspection and operation of hydroelectric generating facilities and associated maintenance work. This is a full time position and pay will be on an hourly basis. On call rotation may be required.
DUTIES:
- Experience to operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts.
- Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances.
- Align and test equipment and make any necessary adjustments.
- Perform predictive and operational procedures.
- Inspect, repair, clean and maintain Hydro Electric machinery and equipment.
- Repair or replace defective parts.
- Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Flame cut, fit, tack weld (a weld that is adequate in size to temporarily hold components in place) and fabricate, as well as, maintain an inventory of replacement parts.
- Operate tools of the trade to build parts for maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Read diagrams, schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedure.
- 5 to 10 years of trade experience.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
- Full time position.
- Employer has other Hydro Electric plants in NH and NY. It will be expected that certain jobs (~25%) will be conducted at a site other than the primary site in VT
- It is expected that the applicant will have their own Mechanical and Machinist tools typical for the Job. Further, they will have dependable transportation necessary to efficiently get to and from the job site with their tools of the trade.
- May be expected to fill in as a hydro operator as necessary, and will be trained on operating procedures.
SKILL TEST
- Read a sketch, and proceed to Flame cut steel, fit, fabricate and weld. Then write a report of the steps taken to make the fabrication.
- Read a caliper to a .001 and convert .001 to mm for our metric units.
- Add fractions, any method will do.
- Align a pump coupling.
- Measure the Fit of a bearing to a shaft.
