SUMMER 2027 NOW HIRING
Your summer job just called: It wants you to take the lead. Assistant Director | Kansas City, MO | Christian Summer Camp $3,420+ Pay Free Housing Meals Included Real Leadership Experience Christian Community The plot: You came for the summer. You left with leadership experience. Looking for a summer job that gives you more than something to put on your résumé? Want to lead people, mentor your peers, solve problems, create ridiculous amounts of fun, and grow in your faith while you're at it? Yeah. Let's go. As an Assistant Director, you'll help lead our summer staff and create an incredible experience for campers, families, and your fellow staff. You'll be trusted with real responsibility, supported by experienced leaders, and given plenty of opportunities to use your unique gifts. Also, there's a good chance you'll find yourself screaming down a slip 'n' slide, leading camp songs at full volume, and teaching kids about the greatest love they'll ever know. So... basically the most fun leadership internship ever. What you'll actually be doing Lead people. Solve problems. Keep the fun going. You'll mentor and encourage summer staff, be the person your team can come to, and help make things happen when plans inevitably go sideways. Camp moves fast, so you'll need to adapt, communicate, troubleshoot, and figure it out - without losing your energy or your sense of humor.
Basically:
become the person who can say, "Don't worry. I've got this." Lead songs. Jump into activities. Get soaked. Encourage staff. Help create unforgettable camp moments. You aren't sitting behind a desk all summer. You're in it. Help create an environment where kids feel welcomed, known, safe, and loved. Support our staff as they build relationships with campers and help share the love of Jesus. Use your gifts. Whether you're naturally organized, great with people, creative, encouraging, energetic, calm under pressure, or somehow all of the above, we'll help you find ways to use your strengths. No leadership experience? That's okay. We're not looking for someone who already knows how to run a summer camp. We'll train you. Dates:
May 16 - August 15, 2027
Pay:
$3,420+ for the summer ($285-300/week for 12 weeks) Returning staff receive a bonus for each summer they return. And there are opportunities to make additional money through optional weekend work.
Time off:
Friday evening through Sunday afternoon is generally yours each week. July 3-8: Day Camp staff receive this week off. Have a mission trip? Vacation? School commitment? Apply anyway. We'll talk through scheduling flexibility during your interview and do our best to make it work. Where will you actually work? Here's where it gets interesting. We have multiple Assistant Director opportunities , and not all of them look exactly the same. Parkville, MO Some Assistant Directors live and work at our home camp near Kansas City. You'll live on-site in our largest air-conditioned lodge with your fellow summer staff. Your bed is yours for the entire summer—including weekends and holidays. You'll have access to: Free housing Meals on working days On-site laundry Staff community Staff worship Optional weekend work On the Road Some Assistant Directors lead mission teams across the Midwest , helping host Day Camps at churches throughout the region. That means your summer could look a little different every week. New places. New churches. New campers. New challenges. Same mission. Not sure which opportunity fits you best? That's okay. Parkville Assistant Directors have a permanent bed in our largest air-conditioned lodge for the entire summer. Food? Handled. Meals are provided on days you're working, and we can accommodate dietary needs and allergies. Laundry? Also handled. On-site, in-unit laundry provided because camp clothes don't wash themselves. A built-in community. You'll spend your summer surrounded by people who love Jesus, love kids, and are committed to making camp awesome. And yes... extra money. Optional weekend shifts may be available when groups rent our facilities.
