OUR MISSION
The Fifth Louisiana Levee Districts primary purpose is maintaining levees along the Mississippi River. The district includes portions of East Carroll, Madison, Tensas and Concordia Parishes. The total length of the levee system is 355 miles, 213.8 miles of mainline levee and 93.1 miles of Red River backwater levee, 14.9 miles of back line levees and Approximately 6.3 miles of spur levees. The height and width of the Mississippi River Levee and Berm system withing the Fifth Louisiana Levee District make It the largest Levee District in the state in total number of surface acres to maintain.ROLE OVERVIEW
The Mobile Equipment Operator 2 performs skilled operation of mobile and farm equipment in support of levee construction, maintenance, inspection, and flood-control operations. This role carries a higher level of experience and responsibility, requiring independent judgment and consistent adherence to safety and operational standards while supporting the Louisiana Levee District's mission. Key Competencies for Success Proficient operation of mobile and farm equipment used in levee and maintenance activities Strong knowledge of safety practices, equipment care, and routine maintenance Ability to follow work plans, understand instructions, and make sound decisions in the field Dependability, teamwork, and effective communication with supervisors and crew members Flexibility to work outdoors in varying conditions and respond during emergency or high-water events Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in mobile equipment operations. Operates field tractor with bushhog mower on levee. Maintains tractor mileage. Maintains and minor repairs to tractor for maintenance necessary to keep equipment clean and in good working order.Position-Specific Details:
