Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Palmyra-Eagle Montessori is seeking an Early Learning Center Summer Teacher Assistant. It is a part-time summer only position. The Early Learning Center Summer Teacher Assistant will be able to interpret and assess individual children's needs, communicate clearly and collaboratively with families and colleagues, and work under the supervision of the Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates will have experience or education in Early Childhood and/or Montessori philosophy. Meeting the standards for a Teacher or Assistant Teacher according to the Wisconsin DCF Rule 251. Having or obtaining a current and accessible WI Registry file is helpful. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and passionate about early childhood education and the Montessori philosophy, with strong classroom management skills, an understanding of child development, and the ability to work as a team. Must pass a criminal background check. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: Physical requirements include the ability to sit on the floor with students, squat down to a child's eye level, kneel, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with co-workers and children with honesty, kindness, and patience Use relevant materials and technology to differentiate instruction Observe and evaluate students' performance and development using Transparent Classroom Participate in department, school, district, and family meetings, orientations, trainings, and professional development Ultimately assist in creating and modeling a classroom environment and culture that aligns with the school's vision Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following: Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds Encourage family and community involvement, obtain information for families when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails Participate in appropriate professional activities and professional development Meet professional education requirements of school, district, and state Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis Ability to establish and maintain cooperate, collaborative and effective working relationships with others The Palmyra-Eagle Area School District is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in employment against properly qualified and eligible individuals by reason of their race, color, national origin, ancestry, political affiliation, citizenship, religion, sex, age, handicap, disability, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability, membership in the national guard, state defense force, or any other reserve component of the military forces of the United States or Wisconsin, arrest record, conviction record not substantially related to a person's job or activity in school, or the use of lawful products by individuals off school premises during non-working hours, as required by Wisconsin Statute 118.12, 118.13 or any other basis prohibited by applicable federal, state, or local law.
