  • Part-time Job Overview The Nature Center Foreman supports the day-to-day operations, upkeep, and presentation of the Hero Kids Foundation Nature Center of Excellence.
This position ensures the facility and surrounding grounds are safe, functional, and visually appealing for participants, volunteers, and visitors. The Foreman assists in the coordination and completion of maintenance projects, prepares the site for events and programs, and works closely with staff to uphold the professional standard and mission of Hero Kids Foundation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain and oversee the daily operations of the Nature Center, including facility maintenance, groundskeeping, and equipment care. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, cleaning, trail upkeep, and small repairs. Prepare and maintain areas for Hero Kids Foundation programs, workshops, and special events. Ensure safety standards are met across all facilities and report maintenance needs promptly. Track and document maintenance schedules, supply inventories, and completed work. Coordinate with staff and volunteers on seasonal or project-based improvement initiatives. Assist in the upkeep and functionality of animal care areas and horticultural spaces as directed. Represent Hero Kids Foundation with professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to service. Qualifications Minimum of two years of experience in maintenance, landscaping, facilities, or a similar field preferred. Working knowledge of grounds equipment, hand tools, and general maintenance practices. Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Strong attention to detail, initiative, and time management. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings for special events. Commitment to the mission and values of Hero Kids Foundation. Must have reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record. Performance Expectations Performance will be evaluated on the following criteria consistent with Hero Kids Foundation's evaluation framework:
Financial Stewardship:
Demonstrates efficient use of materials and resources; minimizes waste and maintains accurate records of supply use.
Nature Center Development:
Contributes to the improvement and beautification of the grounds, ensuring all areas meet Hero Kids Foundation standards for safety and aesthetics.
Program Management:
Supports program staff through timely preparation of facilities and equipment for events, workshops, and activities.
Records Maintenance:
Maintains detailed logs of maintenance tasks, schedules, equipment use, and safety checks.
Independent Problem Solving:
Anticipates maintenance needs and proposes practical solutions; acts proactively to prevent disruptions to programming. Ability to

Demonstrates reliability and adaptability, resolving issues swiftly while maintaining a positive attitude and professional conduct. Work Environment Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to seasonal weather conditions. The position requires standing, bending, lifting, and operating equipment for extended periods.
