Job Description

Location Decatur, AL or Watertown, SD Company Overview Dakota Tube Inc / Tru-Line Manufacturing is a leading manufacturer of hydraulic tube assemblies with two facilities located in Watertown, SD and Decatur, AL. We pride ourselves on operational excellence and are looking for a dedicated Network Engineer to ensure our administrative processes and production lines stay connected and secure 24/7. Job Summary The Network & Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, maintenance, and security of our multi-site network infrastructure while overseeing the lifecycle of all local hardware, including PCs and office printers. You will serve as the technical lead for both locations, supervising a team of 1-2 remote technicians, ensuring seamless connectivity and hardware reliability.
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Management:
Design and support reliable network solutions across both locations, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Multi-Site Connectivity:
Manage and optimize site-to-site connectivity (VPN, SD-WAN, or MPLS) to ensure seamless data flow and low-latency communication between plants.
Hardware Lifecycle Management:
Lead the procurement, deployment, and maintenance of all workstation hardware (PCs, laptops, and tablets) and industrial/office printing solutions across both plants.
Production Support:
Ensure 24/7 uptime for manufacturing-critical systems, including Cloud-Based ERP, on-premise software, and file servers.
Security & Compliance:
Implement and monitor network security protocols, including firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), intrusion detection, and endpoint security to protect proprietary manufacturing data.
Troubleshooting:
Perform root-cause analysis for network outages or performance bottlenecks to minimize downtime.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate network diagrams, hardware inventories, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Vendor and Asset Management:
Maintain a detailed inventory of all IT assets and coordinate with hardware vendors for warranty repairs or large-scale upgrades
Qualifications & Skills Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Experience:
3-5+ years of experience in network engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP). Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Meraki, or similar enterprise hardware. Familiarity with industrial networking (IoT, PLC connectivity) is a major plus.
Certifications:
CCNA/CCNP, Network+ or security-focused certifications are also valued.
Soft Skills:
