Graduate of a state accredited school of nursing. Current Iowa license. ACLS, and PALS certified or completion within five (5) years of hire.Position Summary:
Directs the functions and activities for the nursing team assigned by the House Supervisor or Nurse Manager. Responsible for the direct and indirect patient care given to a specific group of patients. Performs duties in any nursing capacity as needed.Essential Function:
Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Assist physician with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to emergency medical and trauma patient care. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning equipment. Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur. Ensures accurate maintenance of patient's medical record and that patient records are treated as confidential information. Adheres to the policies and procedures regarding HIPAA Guidelines. Demonstrates proficiency in performance standards and skills required of a team leader. Demonstrated the ability to competently care for patients of all ages to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Must have knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patients in this age range, able to assess data and interpret appropriate information relating to their age-specific needs. Develops a comprehensive nursing care plan for patient and/or family according to the nursing process. Organizes planning using a systematic and logical framework, and flexible priorities to accommodate emergency situations. Plans health teaching based on identified learning needs and readiness of patient/family. Utilizes knowledge of nursing biological and social services in developing plan of care. Implements appropriate teaching plans. Satisfactorily qualifies for the position through an Iowa Criminal History/Dependent Adult Abuse check within the limits of applicable laws. Proper use of safe patient handling devices/equipment is required by all employees involved in lifting/transferring patients who need assistance.Additional Job Requirements:
Serves on hospital committees to assist in development or implementation of CQI/UA studies. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required. Performs other related duties as assigned or requestedSoft Skill Requirement:
