Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and knowledgeable student in Occupational Therapy (OT) or Physical Therapy (PT) to provide specialized, one-on-one care ( private in-home) and developmental support for a sweet, autistic 2-year-old girl. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on clinical experience while making a difference in a child's life and supporting a dedicated family. The position runs through February 2027, helping the child prepare for a smooth transition into a specialized therapeutic school program.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Sensory Integration & Regulation:
    Introduce child-led, gentle sensory play to increase stimulation tolerance and support nervous system regulation.
  • Physical Development:
    Implement creative play-based exercises focused on muscle strengthening, core stability, and gross/fine motor skills.
  • Trust & Transition Building:
    Form a secure, safe attachment with the child, helping her learn to navigate transitions and interact confidently with a caregiver outside of her immediate family.
Collaborative Care:
Work alongside the mother to share insights, celebrate milestones, and model gentle therapeutic play techniques in a low-stress home environment.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Graduate/Doctoral program for Occupational Therapy (OT) or Physical Therapy (PT).
  • Strong foundational understanding of pediatric development, sensory processing differences, and autism spectrum profiles.
  • Deep patience, emotional maturity, and the ability to read subtle, non-verbal cues.
  • Experience working with neuro-divergent or non-verbal toddlers is highly preferred.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent care through February 2027.
Schedule & Compensation:
  • Timeline:
    Immediate start through February 2027.
  • Hours:
    10-12 hours per week / 2-3 mornings or afternoons per week. We are happy to offer a flexible schedule that accommodates your class and fieldwork rotations.
  • Pay Rate:
    $25
  • 35/hour, depending on experience and program level.
