Job Description
Job Summary The NMP Operator is responsible for executing in-house NMP tank loading and unloading operations, including ISO tanker and tanker truck transfers within the facility, while supporting equipment readiness, utility operations, and general NMP tank farm maintenance. This role requires adherence to established SOPs, EHS requirements, OSHA regulations, and site rules to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient transfer operations. Key Responsibilities In-House Transfer Operations Prepare transfer areas and equipment, ensuring required PPE, hoses, fittings, tools, and spare parts are available prior to operations Verify tank capacity, system readiness, and perform proper piping line-up using P&ID drawings Perform tank loading and unloading operations for ISO tankers, tanker trucks, drums, and IBCs Connect, transfer, and disconnect product following established procedures Start up and shut down pumps and other transfer equipment as required Monitor transfer operations and field instruments to ensure safe and efficient performance Perform draining of pipelines and equipment as required Perform post-transfer cleanup, teardown, line clearing, and site restoration per SOP requirements Maintain operational logs and accurately document transfer activities Collect process and product samples and deliver them to the laboratory Equipment Readiness, Utilities & ISO Tanker Support Maintain ISO tanker and transfer equipment readiness when not assigned to active operations Ensure required inspections are current and properly documented Coordinate cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs Manage third-party service providers for services not available on-site Maintain ISO tankers and transfer equipment in a condition suitable for immediate use Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures for electrical and rotating equipment in MCC rooms and site-wide Inspect and clean strainers and replace filters as required Perform preventive maintenance (PM) patrols on rotating equipment, checking for abnormal noise, vibration, and temperature Support operation of utility systems, including boilers, cooling towers, compressors, scrubbers, vacuum pumps, and IA/N2 systems Perform chemical cleaning of heat exchangers, towers, and vessels Perform water washing or NMP washing for product changeover or maintenance activities Tank Farm Maintenance & Housekeeping Maintain the outer perimeter of the NMP tank farm free of trash, debris, and accumulated dirt Keep containment areas clean and orderly Ensure containment floors remain free of standing water and debris Pressure wash containment floors on a monthly basis, weather permitting Identify leak points, report findings to the control room, and take initial corrective actions Maintain cleanliness of control room and field areas Safety, Compliance & Reporting Perform all work in compliance with company EHS policies, OSHA requirements, Permit to Work (PTW) systems, and applicable regulations Support confined space entry activities in accordance with site procedures Immediately report safety incidents, environmental releases, near misses, equipment damage, or operational concerns to the Department Manager and EHS Manager Respond to emergency situations, including spills and fire incidents, in accordance with emergency procedures Complete required internal incident reports in accordance with company procedures Additional Duties (Upon qualification/promotion) Operate Distributed Control System (DCS) and monitor process conditions Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager in support of departmental operations Training & Qualifications Completion of standard company new-hire training Successful completion of job-specific on-the-job training (OJT) Ongoing training as required by company policy and EHS standards Required Qualifications Valid driver's license Ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment Ability to follow written SOPs, P&IDs, and verbal instructions Strong safety awareness and mechanical aptitude Flexibility to work varying schedules, including extended hours, weekends, or adjusted shifts, based on operational and customer demand Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift, carry, and handle hoses, fittings, and tools Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods Exposure to industrial environments and chemical handling, with appropriate PPE Scope of Role This position includes in-house transfer operations, equipment readiness, utility support, and tank farm maintenance. Process operations decisions, product quality determinations, and customer contractual matters are outside the scope of this role.
