Job Description

Job Overview Ways to Care is seeking compassionate, dependable, and safety-focused Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Drivers to provide reliable transportation for clients attending medical appointments and other approved destinations. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy helping others and are committed to delivering exceptional customer service with dignity and respect. As a NEMT Driver, you will play an important role in supporting community health by assisting elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, and clients with limited transportation access. Responsibilities Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments, dialysis, therapy sessions, and approved destinations Operate wheelchair-accessible vans and ensure compliance with all traffic and safety regulations Assist clients entering and exiting vehicles, including passengers using wheelchairs, walkers, or mobility devices Secure wheelchairs, seatbelts, and safety restraints properly Maintain communication with dispatch regarding schedules, delays, or client concerns Complete trip logs, mileage documentation, and incident reports accurately Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional customer service at all times QualificationsRequired Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Ability to safely operate vans and wheelchair-accessible vehicles Ability to lift or assist up to 50 pounds Strong communication and interpersonal skills Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor Preferred Experience in transportation, healthcare, caregiving, or human services CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Experience working with elderly individuals or persons with disabilities Skills & Competencies Compassion and empathy Strong customer service skills Commitment to safety and accountability Ability to remain calm under pressure Effective time management and problem-solving skills Working Conditions Extended periods of driving and sitting Exposure to varying weather and traffic conditions Flexible scheduling, including early mornings and occasional weekends Why Join Ways to Care?
