Nurse Manager - (Sharpe Hospital)

General Description - The Nurse Manager is an experienced nurse who, under limited supervision, manages a 25‑patient behavioral health unit with 24/7 operations. The role ensures high‑quality patient care and a therapeutic environment that meets all regulatory standards. The facility treats individuals with psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions, requiring strong foundational nursing skills and specialized training in managing patients experiencing acute or chronic schizophrenia, psychosis, dementia, and other cognitive or behavioral disturbances. The Nurse Manager supervises 30+ employees and maintains adequate staffing to ensure patient and staff safety, welfare, and security. The position monitors compliance with policies and protocols and ensures nursing procedures follow the nursing process. The Nurse Manager oversees daily unit operations—or the overall function and staffing of all units when managing the NCC office—including communication among staff and treatment teams to support effective, continuous patient care. The role also carries shared administrative responsibilities, including staff evaluations. Mandatory overtime may be required. Licensure/Certifications:

Current West Virginia license as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Experience:

Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a Registered Nurse.

Substitution Information:

Graduate coursework toward a degree in Nursing or a related field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis or as determined by the Office of Shared Administration Equivalency Chart.
