Job Description

This full-time role is primarily Monday through Friday, day shift, with some flexibility needed for occasional evening clinical rotations. Best of all, there are no weekends or holidays, offering a schedule that supports great work-life balance. The Nurse Instructor plays an exciting role in shaping the next generation of nurses by bringing learning to life in both the classroom and clinical setting. You'll create engaging, hands-on experiences that help students build confidence, think critically, and apply the nursing process to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. Working alongside a collaborative team of faculty, you'll support student growth, spark curiosity, and foster an inclusive environment where future nurses can thrive and feel prepared for real-world practice. A background in general medical-surgical nursing will help you connect real-world experience to the learning environment in a meaningful way!

Deliver engaging didactic and clinical instruction that brings concepts to life and bridges theory to practice. Guide, coach, and evaluate students as they develop clinical judgment, critical thinking, and confidence in applying the nursing process. Design meaningful learning experiences and assignments that promote safe, high-quality patient care and positive outcomes. + Create aSupportive & Inclusive Learning Environment:
Foster a culture of respect, professionalism, and collaboration in both classroom and clinical settings. Support diverse learning needs by adapting teaching strategies and coaching students in areas such as communication, cultural awareness, and civility. Build strong, supportive relationships with students, faculty, and healthcare team members while effectively navigating and resolving challenges as they arise. + Collaborate & Contribute toProgram Success:
Partner with faculty to ensure cohesive course delivery and a consistent, high-quality student experience. Contribute to curriculum development, program evaluation, and school initiatives, and actively participate in committees and shared governance. Serve as a role model for teamwork, communication, and leadership within the academic and clinical environments. +Drive Growth, Quality & Innovation:
Continuously enhance teaching effectiveness through feedback, self-reflection, and professional development. Incorporate evidence-based teaching practices and current literature into both classroom and clinical instruction. Participate in quality improvement efforts and program evaluation processes to strengthen student outcomes and support ongoing innovation in nursing education. + MSN required 3 years of clinical practice + Precepting experience required; clinical teaching experience in prelicensure program preferred + Previous teaching experience preferred. Certified Nurse Educator certification preferred. + Appointment to this position and retention of this position is contingent upon the approval of the PA State Board of Nursing.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. UPMC approved certification, preferred. CPR Certification for BLS for Health Care Providers. Have Act 33, 34 and 73 (FBI) clearances. Appointment to this position and retention of this position is contingent upon the approval of the PA State Board of Nursing. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) + Registered Nurse (RN) + Act 33 with renewal + Act 34 with renewal + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal •Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
