Job Description
Essential Functions:
Manages room assignments for patients admitted to hospital. Reviews admission documentation including review of admission orders for designation of admission type, at the time the bed assignment is made. Assists in the transfer of patients to other medical facilities. Reviews and coordinates shift assignments for nursing staff. Makes recommendations to unit Nursing Manager and/or Director of Nursing regarding assessed staffing needs for shift to allocate nursing personnel accordingly. Assists nurses on unit and provides direct patient care when needed. Assists with patient care and coordination of patient care in outpatient settings as well as in-patient units. Active participation and response to all emergency codes throughout the hospital. Supervises hospital employees when other management is not present; reports to administration as needed. Supervises staff to ensure quality care is provided to meet patient care needs in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. Supports and demonstrates practices consistent with the mission, philosophy, standards, policies and procedures of the Nursing Department. Ensures nursing staff comply with the hospital's policies and procedures and that practices are consistent with regulatory requirements. Collects various data on the nursing units. Addresses patient in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures. Performs immediate follow up and reports findings and recommendations to Nursing Managers and Director of Nursing in a timely manner. Investigates incidents regarding staff and patients and identifies contributing factors. Participates in implementation of corrective action plans. Communicates with nurse managers and Director of Nursing consistently regarding issues or problems identified during the supervised shift and makes recommendations for resolution. Ensures patient safety and care in accordance with hospital standards and applicable regulatory guidelines. Collaborates on performance appraisals of employees who work on Nursing Supervisor's unit(s). Supervises and disciplines nursing staff as needed when performance is not in accordance with hospital's standards and regulatory requirements. Ensures staff reporting of variances and provides initial follow up on any reported patient safety incidents in keeping with culture of patient safety. Makes regular rounds of all patient care units to ensure safety of patient care and compliance with standards. Participates in the performance improvement processes within the hospital quality improvement program as assigned and by attending quality or team meetings as needed. Assists and participates in activities related to the inspection of the hospital by regulatory or accrediting agencies as needed. Demonstrates understanding of accreditation and regulatory standards and provides leadership for assuring staff compliance with standards. Demonstrates working knowledge of the Relationship and Results Oriented Healthcare nursing model and provides leadership for staff compliance with the best practice bundles. Provides patient care utilizing best practice bundles and the RROHC philosophy. Ensures physicians and families are notified appropriately of any changes in a patient's condition, transfer, discharges, admissions or any unusual occurrence. Notifies senior leadership in the event of an emergency. Ensures appropriate delivery of nursing services including medication administration, transcription of physician orders, patient assessments and infection control procedures. Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in a special needs shelter or Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.Additional Duties:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.Experience:
Five (5) years experience in acute care is required. Or, a minimum of two (2) years experience in acute care combined with a minimum of one (1) year of Nursing Supervisor experience in a Hospital, Nursing Home or similar health care facility is required.Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.Licensure:
State of Florida Registered Nurse license required.Registrations:
