Role Overview:

Since the program officially launched in 2018 and earned its first dedicated Esports Director in 2023, Alfred State Esports has grown into a vibrant, competitive team. Students go head-to-head in titles like Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and Rainbow 6 Siege-competing under the ECAC banner against schools across the country. The program has already racked up a 30-20-2 record in the 2024-25 season, and it's only getting started. As Esports Director, you'll wear a lot of hats - coach, recruiter, community builder, event organizer, but the common thread is simple: helping students thrive. The role averages 8-10 hours per week, with flexibility built in around match nights and events. Whether you're a former competitor, a passionate coach, or someone who simply loves the intersection of gaming and student development-if you want to make a real impact on students' lives while building something truly special, we want to hear from you.

Job Duties:
Program Leadership & Operations:

Lead and manage all aspects of the esports program, including team operations, scheduling, and competition participation. Develop short- and long-term goals for program growth and student engagement. Maintain a positive, inclusive, and student-centered team culture. Coordinate practice schedules, match preparation, and competitive strategy.

Recruitment & Student Development:

Recruit prospective student players through outreach, tournaments, social media, school visits, and campus events. Recruited students are eligible for scholarships. Support retention and academic success of student participants. Mentor students in leadership, teamwork, communication, and professionalism.

Competition & Event Management:

Organize and supervise team participation in collegiate esports leagues and tournaments. Coordinate on-campus esports events, tournaments, showcases, and community outreach activities. Manage travel arrangements and logistics when applicable. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and league regulations. Monitor budget and allocate funds according to Activities Fee policies.

Facility & Technology Oversight:

Assist with oversight of esports facilities, gaming equipment, and technology resources. Coordinate with campus IT and facilities staff regarding hardware, software, and technical support needs. Monitor equipment inventory and recommend upgrades or improvements. Monitor room cleanliness, organization, and overall conditions to ensure a safe, orderly, and well-maintained environment.

Marketing & Community Engagement:

Collaborate with Admissions, Student Life, and Marketing to promote the esports program. Support social media presence, livestreaming, and digital content creation. Build relationships with local schools, esports organizations, and community partners. Participate in on-campus enrollment events when appropriate

Requirements:
Required:

Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered. Knowledge of collegiate esports, gaming communities, and competitive platforms. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for competitions and events. Experience working with students or youth programs.

Preferred:

Coaching or competitive esports experience. Experience with livestreaming platforms, tournament software, or esports production. Familiarity with collegiate athletics or student engagement programming. Experience managing social media or digital communities. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Additional Information:

The salary for this position is $11,000. Employees are also offered
