Job Description
- Reviewing and processing employee requests for reasonable accommodation in accordance with criteria established by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and applicable laws.
- Making determinations related to the reasonable accommodation process and providing guidance and support to the Assistant Commissioner, Office of Equal Employment Opportunity.
- Drafting official correspondence related to accommodation requests.
- Coordinating meetings to review and discuss accommodation requests.
- Preparing and generating reports to track accommodation activity.
- Ensuring all tracking systems are accurate, current, and properly maintained.
- Managing records associated with accommodation requests to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of all documentation.
- Delivering workforce training focused on reasonable accommodation policies and procedures.
- Assisting employees and managers in understanding their rights and responsibilities regarding reasonable accommodations within the Department.
- Ensuring compliance with Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) and EEOC laws, rules, and regulations.

- 95005 Minimum Qualifications Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.
- Demonstrated ability to develop internal metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess team performance.
- Ability to effectively engage and communicate with all levels of management, strong writing and analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to identify gaps in processes and policies and proactively develop and implement solutions.
- Ability to provide guidance on accessibility-related matters and experience leading Reasonable Accommodations teams and related work.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, particularly with respect to issue escalation and ability to coach and mentor Reasonable Accommodation Specialists with varying levels of experience.
- Background in employment discrimination and/or Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) law preferred.
