Job Summary I am hiring support staff for my adult son who has a diagnosis of Level 2 autism. Experience with teens/adults with autism and/or developmental disabilities is required. College degree (or degree in progress) in education, exercise science, occupational therapy, speech pathology, or psychology and/or significant relevant experience in the field required. SCIP training is a plus. Payment will be through the fiscal intermediary ISS (Independent Support Services). He enjoys music, swimming, and various activities in the community. He is usually a mellow guy, but can become fixated on completing specific tasks. Verbal communication and language processing are both challenging for him, and he can at times become frustrated by this and may lash out physically. He requires a staff person who is consistent, calm, and supportive. Staff must be reliable and mature. Staff is expected to interact with my son and participate in activities with him. This is NOT a position for someone primarily interested in transporting and supervising. I am looking for staff to fill two needs, so this could be a position filled by one person, or multiple people. Need #1: Mondays-Fridays from 2:00-4:45/5 after he comes home from his day program. Include:

Being at my home in time to meet the van when he arrives from program; Helping him prepare a snack, take medications (if needed), etc.; Helping him do laundry and straighten his room, as needed; Helping him prepare his lunch for the following day (M-R); Reading with him for about 20 minutes each day; Supporting him in his personal fitness routine by going for a walk in the neighborhood, taking him to the gym, or supervising him while he swims (you don't need to be a lifeguard-he's a good swimmer, but he should be supervised). This is NOT a short-term position. I am hoping to find someone who can stay in this position for at least one year. Need #2: Weekday support when he is unable to go to program. Hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30-2 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30-12 p.m. This position is an "as needed" position. Responsibilities to

Requirements:

For both positions, you must be 18 years old or older, have a driver's license, and reliable transportation. Payment is through a fiscal intermediary (Independent Support Services), who will coordinate the hiring process and serve as the employer of record.
