Job Description
Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to assist in coaching our Oakville Junior Varsity Volleyball team for the upcoming season. This seasonal position offers a unique opportunity to work with young athletes, fostering their skills and promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the game. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in volleyball, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the development of each player. Responsibilities Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, drills, and conditioning sessions. Support the development of individual and team skills through effective coaching techniques and strategies. Help organize and manage team events, including games, tournaments, and team meetings. Monitor and assess player performance, providing constructive feedback and encouragement. Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and any concerns. Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe playing environment for all athletes. Attend all scheduled practices, games, and team events throughout the season. Assist with administrative tasks related to team management, including maintaining attendance and equipment inventory. Requirements Previous experience playing or coaching volleyball at the middle school, high school, or collegiate level prefered. Strong understanding of volleyball fundamentals, strategies, and rules. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, players, and parents. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred. Availability for the entire duration of the season, including evenings and weekends. A positive attitude and a passion for teaching and mentoring young athletes.
