Job Description
Obstetrics (OB)
Department Coordinator General Summary:
This is a part-time 24-hour a week position working 3 days with one weekend shift every 6 weeks and a 24 hour per week call requirement. The OB Department Coordinator is responsible for the planning, provision, and allocation of functional resources necessary to carry out the day-to-day operations of Clay County Medical Center's OB Department. The OB Department Coordinator will coordinate the personnel involved in the provision of care within the OB Department, collaborate with nursing and medical providers, and other leaders in the implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and regulations for the OB Department in order to facilitate high quality patient care. These responsibilities are accomplished by establishing appropriate performance standards and expectations. The OB Department Coordinator is responsible for the proper planning and allocation of resources under their control. All duties are performed consistently with Clay County Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values.Principal Job Functions:
Reviews and develops policies, procedures, standards, and regulations for the OB Department that align with equipment in-house and services we provide. OB Department nurse schedule management as well as call schedule, in coordination with Medical-Surgical Coordinator, maximizing training opportunities Manages scheduling of procedures (NSTs, C-Sections, Inductions, etc.) in conjunction with the Medical-Surgical Coordinator and Director of Surgery Review and preparation of weekly time studies related to OB Call for review by the Director of Nursing. Organization of unit, equipment, and supply usage Education surrounding equipment and supply use as needed Completes chart audit reviews and education for improvement Provides training opportunities in coordination with the Education Coordinator Completes orientation of new nursing team members and training existing team members as needed, including review of orientation and training materials. Facilitates yearly competency checkoffs Conducts the Quarterly OB Department Committee meetings Participates in risk management; reviewing incidents and providing resolution and follow up Completes probationary and yearly evaluations Serves as a representative/liaison to team members, patients, and medical providers Review of current work flows and documentation to verify documentation is complete and consistent throughout the nursing team. This includes regular chart audits, follow up phone calls, and verifying that the depression screens, etc. are done during OB patient stay.Education and Experience:
Current Kansas Registered Nurse 3 years of OB experience Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and very strong organizational skills requiredAPPLY FOR THIS
