Job Description
Do you have lived experience with mental illness, or a substance use disorder, and are far enough along in your recovery that you are ready to help others who have similar lived experiences. Coleman Health Services has an opening for a full-time Peer Support Specialist. This position will be located in Wapakoneta, Ohio but serve Miami, Darke & Shelby Counties in Ohio. This position is a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and the use of coping skills, serving as an advocate, and providing information about peer support in outpatient and settings. Peer Support Specialist performs a wide range of tasks to help peers regain independence within the community and ownership over their own recovery process by using a variety of techniques. Peer Specialists provide guidance, hope, and support toward recovery through personal experience and growth and on a reciprocal basis.
Peer Support Requirements:
High school diploma; Completed state peer support training or willingness to complete such training; Lived experience in mental illness or substance use; Have and maintain acceptable driving record; and Able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to work with persons who are experiencing mental health concerns and crisis Must be willing to complete and have favorable results for criminal background check, drug/alcohol screening, and driving check if selected for the position Employee Package includes: Wages of $23.00/hour Health, dental, vision insurance Flex Spending Account Annual Wellness reimbursement Accrue three weeks of paid-time off during first year Bereavement time off Excellent team environment Highest commitment to quality care Paid License renewal for those who qualify Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
