Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the 2026-2027 academic year. You'll work exclusively onsite, collaborating with various age groups and grades to foster independence and safe travel skills, helping students achieve greater confidence and autonomy. This position is designed for certified professionals with passion for working alongside dedicated educational teams. Provide direct and consultative services to students, contribute your expertise to multidisciplinary planning, and enjoy a consistent weekday schedule.
Qualifications & Experience:
Current, active Orientation and Mobility Specialist license Experience working with K-12 students in a school-based setting preferred Ability to adapt techniques for students with diverse needs and learning styles Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers and IEP teams Demonstrated commitment to facilitating student growth and independence
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility assessments Develop and implement individualized instructional plans Teach safe navigation, travel techniques, and adaptive strategies Document progress and adjust instructional goals as needed Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and families regarding mobility concerns Attend and participate in IEP meetings, offering expertise and recommendations Enjoy a schedule of 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:15 to 3:15, with summer break built in.
