Job Description

Position Summary The Reclamation Services Supervisor plays a critical role in the success of Westmoreland Contract Mining operations. This position provides direct daily supervision of reclamation activities and oversees work crews of up to 50 personnel. Front-line supervisors are expected to set and uphold high standards for safety, quality, schedule adherence, performance, and efficiency. The Supervisor leads the execution of all reclamation activities on the job site —including bulk earthwork, grading, soil placement, and seeding—and is responsible for maintaining safe and efficient worksite conditions while minimizing equipment wear and damage Supervisor Responsibilities This position has direct supervisory responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct supervision of heavy equipment operators and reclamation crews. Assign daily job tasks, manage time-off requests, conduct performance assessments, and administer corrective action when necessary. Inspect field conditions, identify and resolve issues, and implement cost-saving or efficiency-improving measures. Monitor adherence to engineering specifications, evaluate work quality, and proactively identify potential issues or schedule conflicts. Assist in resolving field challenges as needed. Conduct pre-shift safety meetings; deliver relevant safety topics and promote active crew engagement. Participate in planning and scheduling meetings to ensure alignment of labor, equipment, and resources with project needs. Spend 70% or more of scheduled time in the field overseeing active reclamation operations. Perform related duties as assigned. Model and support the Westmoreland Mining Limited Code of Conduct and champion safe work practices across all operations. Typical Physical Demands Requires prolonged sitting with occasional bending, stooping, and stretching. Frequent data entry for extended periods. Occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate office equipment (e.g., keyboard, phone, copier, calculator) Requires adequate hearing and vision to prepare, review, and communicate reports effectively. Mobility sufficient to travel as needed. Typical Working Conditions Work involves both office and active mine site environments, requiring compliance with all safety and environmental standards and occasional evening or weekend work. Occasional offsite travel may be necessary depending on assigned duties. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in surface mining, heavy civil construction, or related fields, with strong technical and practical knowledge in reclamation operations. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered. Licenses, Registration, and Certifications Colorado Surface Mine Foreman Certificate, or ability to obtain it within 3 months preferred. MSHA Instructor Certification preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license through the duration of employment. Must meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland's policies or Driver's insurance provider. Skills/Competencies Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Clear and professional communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. What We Offer This position is expected to pay $105,000 - $127,000 annually; depending on skills, experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
