In this energized position, you will support optometrists by preparing patients, conducting preliminary tests, and managing medical records with precision. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage the front desk operations, including patient intake and appointment scheduling. Perform preliminary assessments such as taking vital signs, collecting medical history, and updating patient records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Epic. Assist with patient care by conducting basic eye tests, including visual acuity assessments and intraocular pressure measurements. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with privacy standards. Support ophthalmologists and optometrists during exams by preparing necessary equipment and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed for infection control. Manage optical inventory, assist with retail sales of glasses and contact lenses, and perform retail math to ensure accurate transactions. Document medical information accurately using medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and coding procedures for billing purposes. Requirements Prior experience in optical or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred; familiarity with optical experience is a plus. Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and ophthalmology procedures. Knowledge of EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms; experience with medical records management is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to perform intake procedures, take vital signs accurately, and follow aseptic techniques diligently. Background in medical office operations including billing, coding, and front desk responsibilities; retail sales experience is beneficial. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about their eye health and products effectively. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and providing outstanding patient care.
