Oral Surgery Surgical Assistant Arvada, CO 80005 $24.00 - $26.50 an hour - Full-time $24.00 - $26.50 an hour - Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Oral Surgery Surgical Assistant to support our dental team in providing exceptional patient care within a busy oral surgery practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a thorough understanding of dental and medical terminology, and the ability to assist during complex surgical procedures. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision, compassion, and professionalism are paramount. The Surgical Assistant will be instrumental in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining sterile conditions, and delivering outstanding patient experiences. We have 2 locations Arvada and Lakewood, and willingness to help cover at each location when needed is important. Duties Prepare treatment rooms with appropriate surgical instruments, supplies, and sterilization protocols to ensure aseptic technique during procedures. Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures by handling instruments, suctioning, and managing patient comfort throughout treatment. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging as required, ensuring accurate documentation for patient records. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Maintain detailed medical documentation and records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, medication usage, and oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric dentistry or general dentistry cases. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, managing inventory of supplies, and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Collaborate with dental reception staff to coordinate appointments and ensure seamless patient flow within the clinic. Assist with the use of advanced technology such as 3D scanners or medical imaging devices to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and infection control practices. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery procedures. Experience operating EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate medical documentation and record-keeping. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to interpret X-ray images and utilize medical imaging tools effectively within a dental setting. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles when assisting with pediatric patients requiring specialized care. Competence in taking vital signs and monitoring patient health indicators during procedures. Understanding of prosthodontics, endodontics, general dentistry procedures, and related specialties as they pertain to oral surgery cases. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages and collaboration with team members.
