Overnight Pharmacy Technician (7 On / 7 Off Shift) Job Description This role serves as a pharmacy floor technician working an overnight, 7-on/7-off schedule. You prepare, label, and scan prescriptions, ensuring they are ready for final verification by a pharmacist. You support high-volume prescription fulfillment while maintaining accuracy, regulatory compliance, and a clean, well-organized work area. Responsibilities Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist. Pick, label, scan, and otherwise prepare finished prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist. Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of medications according to established procedures. Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them correctly, and store them as needed during low-volume times. Manually package materials and products to support prescription fulfillment. Pull and pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas, including prepack racks. Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to perform accuracy checks. Alert the pharmacist on duty about any medication or product that does not scan properly or appears incorrect. Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean and orderly manner and replenish all stock supplies as needed. Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient information and ensure compliance. Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code. Work overtime, holidays, and weekends when required or expected to support operational needs. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations. Essential Skills Active Pharmacy Technician license issued by the Illinois Board of Pharmacy. National Certified Pharmacy Technician credential. High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience. Ability to stand for long periods of time during the shift. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds safely and repeatedly. Ability to work at a moderate speed while handling high-volume prescription orders. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow instructions and documentation. Strong computer and data entry skills to maintain accuracy in prescription processing. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in medication filling and labeling. Ability to work under the supervision of a pharmacist and follow established procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a fulfillment or mail-order pharmacy environment. Familiarity with scanning systems and blister card packaging. Comfort working overnight shifts on a consistent 7-on/7-off schedule. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance. Work Environment This position is based in a pharmacy fulfillment facility near La Grange, Illinois, working an overnight 7-on/7-off schedule (Wednesday through Tuesday). Weekday shifts run approximately 8:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and weekend shifts run approximately 6:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The environment is high-volume and fast-paced, requiring extended periods of standing and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds. You will work at designated workstations with shelving, prepack racks, blister card systems, and computer-based scanning and data entry tools. The role follows established departmental policies for safety, attendance, and dress code, and may require overtime, holiday, and weekend work. Pay is 20-23/hr, An additional 10% shift differential is provided on top of base pay for the overnight schedule. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Grange, IL.
