Summary The Paint Shop Helper supports the finishing team in preparing, coating, and finishing standard and custom components. This role assists with surface preparation, material handling, and basic paint operations while learning industrial painting processes. The position works closely with production, engineering, and leadership to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met. Competencies Analytical Decision-Making Communication Teamwork and Relationship-Building Learning and Development Results Orientation Planning and Organizing Job Specifications Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in surface preparation including sanding, cleaning, masking, and staging materials Support paint application processes including mixing, priming, and basic spraying under supervision Handle parts and components before and after painting Assist with polishing, touch-up, and rework as needed Maintain paint equipment, tools, and work areas Follow work instructions, blueprints, and work tickets Support inventory and organization of paint materials and supplies Maintain compliance with company safety and OSHA standards Work with team members to meet production goals Assist other departments as assigned Performance Level Classification Tech I
  • Entry level, requires direct supervision and training. Tech II
  • Intermediate, can complete most tasks with some supervision. Tech III
  • Advanced, completes tasks independently with minimal supervision.
Education/Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to become forklift certified. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership. Reasoning Ability Ability to identify problems, gather information, and implement solutions while maintaining quality standards. Computer Skills Basic computer skills or willingness to learn. Other Skills Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude. Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires standing, bending, reaching, and working for extended periods. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and materials requiring PPE.
