Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Support the educational journey of a remarkable 4th grade student as a Deaf/Blind Intervener in a welcoming school environment, located near Southport, NC. In this impactful contract position, you'll serve as a dedicated 1:1 Paraprofessional, providing individualized support and ensuring meaningful engagement in the classroom from August 21, 2026, through June 4, 2027. Your expertise will not only facilitate communication access but also foster participation and independence for a student who benefits from specialized assistance throughout the school day. You'll work closely with teachers and support staff to help create a positive and inclusive educational experience, making a significant difference in a young person's daily life.
What You'll Need:
Experience or training as a paraprofessional, especially in educational settings Familiarity with supporting students with sensory impairments (deaf/blind experience highly valued) Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret or utilize assistive technology Patience, compassion, and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and promoting a safe learning atmosphere
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 support to a 4th grade student, facilitating access to instruction and activities Adapt instruction and materials for accessible participation Support communication needs, both expressive and receptive, using appropriate tools or strategies Collaborate with educators, therapists, and intervention teams Assist the student with transitions, mobility, and personal needs as necessary Document progress and challenges, maintaining open communication with the educational team This is a full-time, contract role—offering 37.5 to 40 hours per week—and an opportunity to truly shape a student's school experience.
