$68145 - $102218.00 per year View All Jobs at Wayne County Government Take Action Share | Apply Now Description Paralegal 2 will provide daily support and assistance in the performance, functions, and duties of the office of Corporation Counsel, and assist with the substantive legal work of the Corporation Counsel attorneys. Required Tasks Write, type, edit, format, and proofread various legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence, contract and memoranda under the direction of attorneys. Conduct legal research, review, read and analyze legal and other documents and report on information received from various sources. Copy, scan, shred hard copy and electronic data and documents under the direction of attorneys. Case management; including opening and closing files in the office case management system under the direction of attorneys and supervisors, calendaring and track court deadlines. Schedule depositions and court reporters. Organize trial and case files, organize records and documentation to monitor case activities to ensure smooth flow, and assist with Department filing and work collaboratively with the legal team. Summarize depositions, review other documents and legal pleadings, and prepare exhibits. Case investigation; including witness location and other discovery assistance, research and investigation. Attend meetings with attorneys, take notes, and assist attorneys with cases, including but not limited to deposition preparation. Conduct interviews and contact witnesses, clients, law offices, governmental agencies and communicate with the public, including telephone contact. File documents in person and/or electronically with the district, circuit and federal courts under the direction of attorneys. Assist in the development and analysis of legal cases. Organize and assists with the maintenance of the department's law library. Review and redact records on subpoena requests Educational /Experience Requirements A HS Diploma/ GED and paralegal certificate; minimum three (3) years civil legal experience, which includes the preparation and drafting of legal documents in a law firm or legal department; or An Associate degree from an accredited school in Paralegal Studies/Legal Administration; and minimum two (2) years full time paid civil legal experience in a law firm or legal department; or A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school and minimum one (1) year full time paid civil experience in a law firm or legal department; or A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school and a paralegal certificate; or A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in Paralegal Studies/Legal Administration A Juris Doctorate Managed by Job Match LLC, All Rights Reserved - ApplicantPro Applicant Tracking Software © 2005-2012
