Paralegal

Our client, a California-based plaintiff-side law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to provide temporary support during a maternity leave coverage period. This is initially a full-time contract role supporting ongoing litigation matters with a strong emphasis on discovery preparation, litigation support, and high-volume case workflow management. The firm handles complex plaintiff-side matters, including toxic tort and environmental exposure cases, and operates in a fast-paced, lean environment.

This role is best suited for a paralegal with strong discovery preparation experience who can take ownership of litigation workflows, communicate directly with clients, and operate independently in a fast-paced remote litigation environment with minimal oversight. Due to the urgency of the need, the selected candidate should already be comfortable handling litigation support tasks such as discovery preparation, pleading support, filing coordination, calendaring accuracy, and managing multiple active matters simultaneously without a formal cross-training period.

Following the initial maternity leave coverage period, the ideal candidate will be open to remaining on assignment on a structured part-time schedule for approximately six additional months to support the current paralegal's transition back from leave and maintain continuity across active matters.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare and manage written discovery, including interrogatories and requests for production Work from established discovery templates and tailor responses to case-specific facts Gather, organize, and synthesize information from clients and case materials Communicate directly with clients to support intake and discovery development Assist with drafting and preparing pleadings and other litigation documents Coordinate filings through third-party filing services Coordinate and track litigation deadlines, filings, service requirements, and case-related logistics across multiple active matters Support attorneys across active litigation matters from intake through discovery phases
