Parent & Me Swim Class Instructor Rate $45+ Position Summary Hackensack Fitness and Wellness Parent & Me Swim Class Instructor leads fun, safe, and engaging water classes designed for children alongside their parents or caregivers. The instructor focuses on water comfort, basic aquatic skills, bonding, and safety education while creating a positive first experience in the water. Key Responsibilities Lead structured Parent & Me swim classes that promote water confidence, safety, and parent-child bonding Demonstrate age-appropriate water activities, and movements Coach parents/caregivers on proper holds, cues, and safety techniques Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming pool environment at all times Observe children for comfort, readiness, and safety during activities Adapt lessons to different developmental stages and comfort levels Enforce pool rules and safety policies consistently Communicate clearly and positively with parents and caregivers Maintain accurate attendance and class records (if required) Assist with setup and cleanup of class equipment Qualifications Current Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain) CPR/AED and First Aid Certification Experience working with infants, toddlers, or young children preferred Comfortable working in the water for extended periods Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patient, energetic, and nurturing personality Preferred Skills & Experience Swim instructor certification (e.g., Red Cross, YMCA, Starfish, or equivalent) Experience teaching group classes Knowledge of water safety and child development Physical Requirements Ability to be in the pool for the duration of class sessions Ability to lift and support small children as needed Ability to remain alert and responsive in a water environment Work Schedule Part-time; Saturday mornings 9am-11am
