Job Description

Part Time Barn Technician Sarasota County Sheriff's Office FL Posted Date 5/17/2026 Description The part-time barn technician will work 25 hours per week and duties will include but are not limited to the following: responsible for the care of the horses, facility custodial duties, grounds maintenance, maintain animal records regarding registration and inoculations, inventory and maintain supplies, and maintaining equipment/tack.
Minimum requirements include:
Ability to observe the behavioral patterns of the animals and report suspected illnesses or injuries to the supervisor, ability to exercise and train the horses, ability to correctly tabulate and compile data of horses records, ability to adequately groom, feed, and inspect the horses and schedule health check-ups. Complete assignment as directed; maintain work areas; knowledge of general orders; report identified or potential safety, maintenance, or non-compliance issues; observe animals; check animal records; appropriate horse training; maintain mounted patrol area; mounted patrol supplies and inventory; overall care of mounted patrol horses; maintain vendor files; generate reports; receive, route, and disperse telephone calls/messages; compose and type correspondence, reports; and other material; schedule appointments/,meetings; maintain confidential files; provide assistance to patrol deputies/detectives/other units; and utilize animal to control demonstrators/crowd/rioters.
  • Two years of related work experience
  • Ability to observe the behavioral patterns of the animals and report suspected illnesses or injuries to the supervisor.
  • Ability to exercise and train the horses.
  • Ability to correctly tabulate and compile data of horses records.
  • Ability to adequately groom, feed, and inspect the horses and schedule health check ups.
Salary 29,369.60 - 40,809.60 Annual Field Police
