Part-Time Finance Director Part‑Time | Hybrid (1 day/week onsite) | Nonprofit Sector We are looking for our client in the nonprofit sector to hire an Part-Time Finance Director who can provide steady financial leadership, oversee core accounting functions, and support organizational operations during a period of transition. This part‑time engagement is ideal for a seasoned nonprofit finance professional who can balance strategic insight with hands‑on execution. About the Role The Part-Time Finance Director will step into a key leadership position. With an active, collaborative, and mission‑driven team, this role requires someone who communicates financial information clearly, supports staff with empathy, and brings disciplined oversight to accounting, reporting, and internal controls. This assignment includes oversight of finance, coordination with outsourced IT partners, and light HR administration. The Part-Time Finance Director will report to the Executive Director and work closely with a part‑time bookkeeper who recently joined the organization. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Board Support (30%) Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules Present financials to the Board and Finance Committee Track donations, restricted funds, and capital campaign activity Support reforecasting and development of the 2026 budget Provide projections and reporting to leadership, staff, and auditors Accounting Oversight & Month‑End Close (40%) Review and validate bookkeeper work (AP, AR, reconciliations, journal entries) Lead month‑end close and ensure timely, accurate reporting Maintain internal controls and documentation Coordinate audit preparation and support external auditors Payroll, HR, and Benefits Administration (10%) Oversee bi‑weekly payroll Coordinate with insurance brokers for benefits and open enrollment Support general HR processes as needed Operational & IT Coordination (20%) Serve as point of contact for outsourced IT provider Ensure systems, processes, and financial workflows operate smoothly Participate in quarterly Finance Committee meetings and support the Executive Director The Part-Time Finance Director will also help evaluate financial risk, monitor cash flow, and ensure restricted funds are used in alignment with donor intent. Minimum Requirements Must‑
Haves:
Minimum 5 years of nonprofit accounting and financial reporting experience Strong oversight experience managing accounting staff or bookkeepers Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel (linking, macros, large multi‑tab workbooks) Ability to translate financial concepts into clear, accessible language Experience preparing financials for boards, auditors, and leadership teams Preferred (Pluses): CPA or CPA candidate Experience with Budgyt, Paylocity, or Raiser's Edge Familiarity with HR or IT coordination in a small‑team environment Experience supporting investment or finance committees Work Environment & Culture This nonprofit is known for its friendly, collaborative, and mission‑aligned team.
