Job Description

Jay's of Mauston is looking for an experienced Parts and Labor Specialist to join our team! Summary Perform a variety of customer service, in-store sales, and stocking duties related to the receiving, sale, and delivery of marine and powersports parts, accessories, and components . Work directly with customers and service technicians to ensure marine and powersports repairs, maintenance, diagnostics, and watercraft upgrades are completed in a timely manner and adhere to safety standards and service specifications. Assist customers with counter parts sales, service questions, and other customer service responsibilities. Regular and consistent utilization of the dealer management system (DMS) as well as specialized marine vendor and manufacturer software. Ensure that all charges related to work orders are posted accurately and that all work orders are completed and closed on time. Establish and maintain excellent customer rapport and provide outstanding customer service tailored to the marine environment. Role and Responsibilities Greet customers proactively in a courteous manner. Provide hands-on demonstrations and education about marine and powersports products, accessories, electronics, rigging components , and related items to earn the sale. Assist in the control of showroom inventory to ensure maximum sales. Follow prescribed cash, credit, and check processing procedures. Stay current with knowledge of powersports and marine industry product updates. Maintain attractive, neat, and creative retail sales floor and displays, including routine tidying and cleaning of displays and products. Assist in keeping the parts department clean and orderly. Provide service technicians with marine and powersports parts, rigging components, and accessories as required. Receive, record, and stock marine and powersports parts and accessories as required. Order marine and powersports parts and accessories per dealership procedures and manufacturer/vendor specifications. Write customer service orders and estimates, including accurate parts and labor costs. Assign repair orders to service technicians. Maintain detailed service technician work calendar. Treat customers fairly and with honesty, demonstrating our commitment to superior customer service and ethical business practices. Ensure a clean and safe work area. Handle customer complaints and concerns, escalating serious problems to management as appropriate. Safely operate and maneuver boats, powersports, personal watercraft, trailers, and marine equipment , following all safety rules. Update service records and files using the dealership's computerized information system. Track "comebacks" and ensure the issue is corrected to the customer's and dealership's satisfaction. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Required Outstanding customer service skills. Ability to effectively speak, actively listen, and interpret customer needs. Excellent problem-solving skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds of material regularly. Ability to balance, push, and maneuver boats, trailers, personal watercraft, and other marine vehicles regularly. Ability to write and work on routine reports and correspondence. Ability to negotiate customer complaints to a satisfactory resolution. Ability to maintain professionalism and efficiency under pressure. Knowledge of and experience with repair, rigging, diagnostics, or maintenance of marine vehicles —including boats, outboards, inboards, and personal watercraft. Experience working with computerized information systems; knowledge of Lightspeed EVO or similar marine/powersports DMS is a plus. Preferred Basic knowledge of marine vehicles, marine parts, rigging components, accessories, and marine electrical systems. Basic knowledge of parts inventory and management systems. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Basic PC skills. One to three years of experience in parts sales or service department work, or equivalent education and experience. Experience working in a marine dealership or marine service environment is highly desirable. Schedule Tuesday through Friday, 8:45AM-6:00PM Saturday, 8:45AM-3:00PM - Saturdays are required.
