Job Description

Summary Description Dynamics' engineering capability includes design engineering, process engineering, automation engineering, internal software engineering, and full-stack web development engineering. Patent Agents / Patent Attorneys manage our intellectual property strategy. The position drafts and prosecutes patent applications as well as other traditional company counsel activities. . The opportunity will intellectual property activities as part of our overall design, process, production technology, and implementation capabilities. Our intellectual property capability works closely with our product groups, process engineering capability, design engineering resources, and automation engineering resources to develop our intellectual property.   • U.S. patent prosecution
  • International patent prosecution
  • Large-scale patent portfolio strategy and management
  • In-house counsel activities
  • Working with internal and external intellectual property resources. Professional Requirements
  • In-house role in Pittsburgh PA
  • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering, physics, Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar discipline.
  • [For Attorney Role Only] A law degree from an ABA accredited Law School.
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and/or willing to obtain registration immediately upon hire.
  • [For Attorney Role Only] Admission to at least one legal bar within the U.S. or a U.S. territory.
  • Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Highly organized, efficient and proactive.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with internal customers, management and staff.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Primary Skills
  • Problem solving and ability to perceive items outside of the box
  • Self-motivated and driven to efficiently complete tasks
  • Assist in managing a large patent docket of hundreds of cases.
  • Prepare and prosecute US patent applications. Provide patent counseling for one or more departments. Work independently and efficiently, meet demanding deadlines and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Provide support to the internal and external resources as needed. Secondary Skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional/domain internal teams experience serving in a corporate IP function, law firm IP practice, or the US Patent & Trademark Office examining patent applications.
Demonstrated experience with patent portfolio management. Experience with freedom to practice, validity/invalidity, and patentability opinion work. Familiarity with the PCT process and foreign prosecution. Ability to train less experienced agents or attorneys. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to manage every aspect of a patent portfolio including classically non-attorney functions (e.g., e-filing, IDS maintenance, and the like). Copyrights Trademarks Trade secrets
