Job Description
Make an Impact Where It Matters Most At Mountain Laurel Medical Center (MLMC), our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide high-quality, patient-centered healthcare to our communities—regardless of ability to pay. As a Federally Qualified Health Center serving multiple locations across Maryland and West Virginia, we are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and reliable Patient Access Specialist (PAS) to serve as the welcoming first point of contact for our patients. This is more than a front desk role—it's an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the patient experience while supporting access to compassionate, mission-driven healthcare in the communities we serve. The Patient Access Specialist's responsibility is to create a positive and efficient patient experience by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out, verifying insurance information, collecting payments, and assisting with general office and administrative support. This individual plays a key role in coordinating patient flow, maintaining accurate patient information, and ensuring patients feel welcomed, respected, and supported throughout their visit. The position will be based in Bruceton. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong customer service skills emphasizing empathy and warmth while serving our patients. He/She will also provide efficient organization and time management skills proving to be a team player. Has the ability to understand and maintain patient confidentiality. Reflects MLMC Core Values of Patient-Focused, Respect, Accountability, Teamwork, Continuous Improvement, and Integrity. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a medical office, customer service, or front desk setting is preferred. Experience with Electronic Medical Records, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and medical terminology is highly desirable. Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills are essential. MLMC is proud to support work-life balance by offering a consistent Monday through Friday schedule with no routine weekends, allowing employees more time for family, personal commitments, and overall well-being. At Mountain Laurel Medical Center, we believe in caring for our employees as much as we care for our patients. We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, work-life balance, and professional growth, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holidays, retirement benefits, employee assistance resources, and ongoing development opportunities. Join a mission-driven team committed to making a difference in the communities we serve.
