Patient Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and check in patients for appointments; verify and update demographic and insurance information. Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-ups, including hospital discharges. Check out patients and collect co-pays; reconcile daily batches. Answer and direct phone calls; document communications in the electronic health record (EHR). Assist patients with kiosk check-in and screenings. Offer sliding fee scale applications when appropriate and document income level. Maintain a clean and welcoming waiting area; monitor patient flow. Collaborate with care coordination and clinical teams to support smooth workflows.

Qualifications:

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work both independently and as part of a team. Comfort with technology and willingness to learn new systems.

Preferred:

2+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting. Completion of a medical terminology course. Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
