Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our organization. In this vital role, you will manage payroll operations, maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, and support various HR and accounting functions. Your expertise will help streamline payroll workflows, enhance data accuracy, and support our commitment to employee satisfaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment where precision, efficiency, and proactive problem-solving are valued. Responsibilities Process payroll using industry-leading software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Perform data entry for employee hours, wages, benefits, deductions, and tax information with meticulous attention to detail. Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping. Manage benefits administration tasks related to payroll deductions and contributions while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Maintain comprehensive records of payroll transactions, including accounts payable and receivable activities related to employee compensation. Collaborate with HRIS systems like Kronos or PeopleSoft to update employee information and generate reports for management review. Assist with governmental accounting requirements such as tax filings, reporting obligations, and audit preparations related to payroll. Skills Proficiency in payroll management software such as ADP, Work Force Now is essential. Experience in Transportation strongly preferred. Strong understanding of accounting principles including debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and journal entries. Excellent analysis skills for reviewing payroll data accuracy and identifying discrepancies promptly. Familiarity with tax regulations, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit or corporate accounting practices. Exceptional data entry skills including 10 key typing accuracy and attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks such as accounts payable/receivable and account reconciliation.
