Payroll Specialist (Professional Services Industry)

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist with strong system expertise and a background in professional services environments. This role will be responsible for processing complex payrolls, ensuring compliance across multiple pay structures, and supporting ongoing system improvements. The ideal candidate brings a mix of technical payroll knowledge, systems experience, and the ability to navigate project-based or billable-hour environments. Experience with certified payroll and system implementations is highly valued.

RESPONSIBILITIESProcess multi-state payroll on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly basis with a high level of accuracyManage payroll for salaried, hourly, and project-based employeesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour lawsHandle certified payroll reporting, including prevailing wage requirementsMaintain and audit payroll data within HRIS and payroll systemsSupport system upgrades, implementations, and process improvementsPartner with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepanciesPrepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and audit documentationRespond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
