Opens a new window. Position Summary The Pediatrician (MD) provides comprehensive, high-quality medical care to infants, children, and adolescents in an ambulatory clinic setting. This role focuses on preventive care, acute illness management, chronic condition management, and developmental health, consistent with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) standards, HRSA guidelines, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Pediatrician works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary care team to promote optimal child health outcomes and family-centered care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients from birth through adolescence, including well-child exams, sick visits, and follow-up care. Perform physical examinations, developmental screenings, vision and hearing screenings, and growth assessments. Diagnose and treat acute and chronic pediatric conditions. Provide preventive care services, including immunizations, anticipatory guidance, and age-appropriate screenings. Manage chronic pediatric conditions such as asthma, ADHD, obesity, and diabetes. Order and interpret diagnostic tests (laboratory, imaging, etc.) and develop appropriate treatment plans. Prescribe medications including controlled substances, and therapies in accordance with clinical guidelines and applicable laws. Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and comply with all billing requirements. Coordinate care with specialists, hospitals, schools, and ancillary providers; initiate and manage referrals as appropriate. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and clinical audits. Provide culturally competent and trauma-informed care to a diverse pediatric population and their families. Educate patients and families on health maintenance, nutrition, safety, and disease prevention. Collaborate with nursing staff, medical assistants, behavioral health providers, and case managers to support integrated care. Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), residents, and clinical staff, as assigned. Participate in on-call coverage, extended hours, and weekend schedules, as required. Support organizational compliance with HRSA, Joint Commission, NCQA, and other regulatory standards. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable privacy laws.
